Humanitarian Events Usage Instructions

Default Settings

The following defaults are set for the events service:

  • Time zone:
    • if logged in: Humanitarian ID account. This can be reset from the account settings screen.
    • if logged out: UTC.
  • Event type: defaults to “Meeting”.

Adding Events

In order to add an event to the service, you will need to log in to the site with your Humanitarian ID. Once logged in, you will see a link “Add event” in the top right corner of the site. When adding new events, please add as much relevant information as you can, including the “hosting” organisation and type of event. You may use the text area to add additional details about your event such as the building and room number where the meeting will be held.

Steps to Add an Event

Before proceeding, please ensure you know the login details for your Humanitarian ID account.

  1. Navigate to the events site.
  2. Click on “Login”. You will be redirected to Humanitarian ID.
  3. Enter your Humanitarian ID account details to complete the login process. You will be redirected back to the Humanitarian Events service.
  4. Click on “Add event”.
  5. Complete the form, ensuring you add the following details:
    • Name of the event (“Title”)
    • Type of meeting (“Category”)
    • Organization of the sponsor / host of the meeting
    • Relevant Cluster, Working Group or Area of Responsibility for the meeting (“Cluster”)
    • Closest Office (used for filtering) (“Coordination Hub”)
    • Details about your event, such as the room number (“Info”)
    • Date, time and time zone
    • Related files: agenda, meeting minutes, presentation
  6. Scroll to the bottom and click “Save”.

Your event has been added.

Editing Events

Users may edit their own events by completing the following steps:

  1. Ensure you are logged in to the events site.
  2. Navigate to an event you would like to edit.
  3. Locate and click on the “Edit” tab.
  4. Adjust the details for the event.
  5. Scroll to the bottom and click “Save”.

Your event has been updated.

To edit someone else’s event you will need to first be a “verified” user on Humanitarian ID. If you are not already a verified user, please contact your local IMO or another verified user on Humanitarian ID. If you don’t already know who this person is, you can search for them on Humanitarian ID.
